Case study

LiabilityGap.ca: the Authority Engine, proven on our own brand

We built a Canadian liability-insurance education site on a brand-new domain to test our content system where it had no head start.

Our own brand Published

The short answer

LiabilityGap.ca is Magnitude’s own Canadian liability-insurance education brand, built from an empty repository in July 2026 to prove the Authority Engine before we sold it. One content contract shapes every page, AI agents audited load-bearing claims against primary sources, and a weekly Search Console miner proposes what to write next.

What Magnitude built
Positioning, demand research, the content contract, the site, the fact-audit ledger, the Lawsuit Exposure Quiz, a weekly Search Console miner and automated video workflows

Why we built it

Why build our own brand first?

A content system is easy to sell on promises, so we tested the Authority Engine on a brand we own before asking a client to trust it. The new domain had no brand, links or history, in a “your money or your life” topic where readers act on the numbers.

Disclosure

LiabilityGap.ca is operated by Magnitude Marketing & Design, as its contact page states. It is an independent publisher and referral service, not a broker or insurer; licensed brokers may pay it referral fees.

Contract and audit

How were AI-drafted pages fact-checked?

Fact-audit ledger excerpt, 30 Jul 2026. Statuses are the auditors’.
Claim as first published Status Ledger record Primary source
Ontario’s home-equity exemption is “~$10,000” Corrected Corrected to $12,997, indexed annually O. Reg. 657/05 (Execution Act)
Ontario: opening a vehicle door without checking is an offence, for passengers too Verified Confirmed against the statute Highway Traffic Act, s. 165
Standard home policies exclude renting to paying guests Hedged No single governing statute, so the page keeps “generally” None applies
  • One contract. Each page’s frontmatter sets its short answer, takeaways, citations and schema type. The site renders the answer box and structured data from that block.
  • One audit. On 30 Jul 2026, AI agents checked every page against primary sources: 445 claims ledgered, 40 corrected, 0 fabricated.
  • Not an expert review. No licensed broker or lawyer has reviewed the content.

AI Overview

How did a week-old site get cited in an AI Overview?

Google search results in dark mode for the query liability gap canada. The AI Overview defines a liability gap in Canada as the difference between a court-awarded lawsuit judgment and the limit of your home or auto policy, then says readers can review educational resources and exposure guides via LiabilityGap, with LiabilityGap shown as a link. In the source panel, the first card is blurred and the cards below it are from liabilitygap.ca.

The loop

How does the site choose what to write next?

A weekly miner proposes pages. An operator decides what ships.

The Authority Engine loop on LiabilityGap.ca The loop runs from the content contract to pages drafted under it, then the fact audit against primary sources, then a weekly Search Console miner that proposes pages, then new pages an operator commits, then automated videos made from site pages. New pages go back through the contract and the audit. • The miner proposes. Each week it compares Search Console queries with the live sitemaps, and Claude proposes pages under rules: no quotes or personalised advice, a primary Canadian source per claim, no duplicates.
  • The operator decides. The report is advisory, and the default is no action. A page gets built only when nothing live serves the query.
  • Pages become videos. Automated workflows turn audited pages into YouTube Shorts and explainers, with scripts limited to facts in the page text. The @liabilitygap channel had 44 videos on 21 Sep 2026.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the Authority Engine?

The Authority Engine is Magnitude’s system for building sites that answer engines can cite: demand research, one content contract for every page, a claim-by-claim fact audit against primary sources, and a weekly Search Console loop that proposes the next pages.

Was LiabilityGap’s content reviewed by a licensed expert?

No. On 30 Jul 2026, AI agents audited the site’s pages against primary sources such as statutes and regulator pages, and logged each load-bearing claim in a ledger. No licensed broker or lawyer has reviewed the content.

Can Magnitude promise an AI Overview citation?

No. Nobody controls what AI Overviews show. The LiabilityGap citation is one manual observation from 5 Aug 2026, not a standing placement. What we control is the page: a clear definition, primary-source facts and markup that mirrors the visible text.
